I actually got a letter from Nestle after I called them about the kosher tax symbol on Coffee-Mate creamer. The consumer response rep said that because it increases their sales volume no extra charge gets passed on to their non-kosher customers. Seems to make some sense – but only if the increase in sales volume pays for all the ancillary charges, which I’m inclined to doubt.
The number of kosher keepers of the world is minescule compared to all the non-kosher people. Those rabbis must be working pretty cheap! And lest I forget – I’ve got some land in Florida I’m looking to sell….
