False flags of our fathers
False flag attacks are an example of the political formula known as problem-reaction-solution. The name comes from the tactic used by pirates to get close to a targeted ship by flying a friendly flag. There are different types of false flag operations. The most perfidious type is when a nation (or an element within a nation), carries out an attack (e.g., a "terrorist" attack) within its own borders, and blames it on some foreign or domestic "enemy". The public then demands that their government do something; and the government obliges by going after the "enemy". The government may also, and usually does, implement certain, domestic police measures: e.g., Executive Order 9066, the Patriot Act, Homeland Security....
The Great Fire of Rome:
Leave it to Nero...!
On the night of July 19, 64 AD, the Great Fire broke out near the Circus Maximus. The flames, whipped by a strong wind, rapidly engulfed densely populated areas of the city. The fire raged uncontrolled for five days, burning to the ground 4 of the 14 Roman districts and leaving seven more severely damaged.
The Emperor Nero dreamed of building a series of palaces that he planned to name "Neropolis" - but the desired location was within city limits. In order to build Neropolis a third of Rome would need to be demolished. The Roman Senate rejected the idea. Then, serendipitously, the fire cleared the very areas Neropolis required.
Romans knew of Nero's plans for Neropolis, and his efforts to help the city did nothing to counteract the widespread rumor that he was behind the fire. As his numbers dropped, Nero realized the need to take a page from False Flag 101: "When things go wrong, point your finger at an enemy!"
Luckily for Nero, there was a strange new cult at hand. This cult, the Christians, was unpopular because they refused to worship the emperor or Rome's traditional gods. Even more annoyingly, they decried materialism and immorality - and they spoke of the destruction of Rome and the end of the world. Furthermore, the rich and influential Jews of Rome hated them....
Nero spread the rumor that the Christians had started the Great Fire and the Romans bought it hook, line, and sinker. St. Peter was crucified (upside down, at his own request) and St. Paul was beheaded. Hundreds of others were fed to the lions, or smeared with tar and set on fire to become human street lamps; but three years later the rumor still persisted. This and Nero's unpredictable viciousness eventually caused a nervous Senate to declare him an outlaw and Nero, penned on all sides, was forced to commit suicide.
Boston Tea Party:
American colonists, such as The Sons of Liberty, desired to free themselves from the predatory Bank of England and it's puppet king - and their agents in the Colonies. Not to mention the possibility of getting out from under their own debts....
On the evening of December 16, 1773, following speeches by Samuel Adams and others protesting the Tea Act of 1773, a group of about 100 men, most of them Sons of Liberty, disguised themselves as Mohawk warriors, boarded three British vessels wharved in Boston Harbor and, over the course of three hours, dumped a fortune in tea into the water. Britain responded to this provocation by closing Boston Harbor and enforcing the so-called Coercive Acts; further alienating the by now rebellious colonists.
USS Maine:
The US government, recognizing the weakness of Spain, was eager to claim some or all of its colonies in the Western hemisphere, as well as those in the Pacific Ocean, before others got there first....
In January 1898, the Maine was sent from Key West, Florida to Havana, Cuba to protect U.S.interests during the Cuban War of Independence. Three weeks later, on Feb. 15 at 9:40 pm, an explosion destroyed the Maine. Later investigations revealed that more than 5 tons of powder charges for the vessel's six and ten-inch guns had detonated, obliterating the forward third of the ship. Of the 355 sailors on board there were only 89 survivors. A US Naval Court of Inquiry declared that a naval mine had caused the explosion.
It is now admitted, even by the US Navy, that no mine was involved in the destruction of the Maine. It's unknown whether the explosion was the result of an accident or was a deliberate false flag attack. Whatever the cause, the wreckage was immediately salvaged and scrapped. Spain had nothing to gain from such an attack - while the US had much to gain from a war with Spain. In any event American newspapers immediately took up the chant, "Remember the Maine, to hell with Spain!"
RMS Lusitania:
British, American and French bankers were panicked at the thought of a German victory in WWI. American involvement was needed if they hoped to protect their assets....
On 7 May 1915, the RMS Lusitania, enroute from New York to Liverpool, was torpedoed off the coast of Ireland by the German U-boat U-20, and sank in just 18 minutes - killing 1,198 of the 1,959 people aboard. The sinking turned public opinion in many countries against Germany and contributed to the American entry into World War I. The U-20 fired one torpedo which blew a hole in the side of the Lusitania. This was soon followed by a much larger explosion that took out the entire starboad side forward of the bridge.
Subsequent investigations revealed that this explosion happened inside the Lusitania. This is because it was secretly transporting 6 million pounds of artillery shells and rifle ammunition, as well as other explosives, on behalf of Morgan banking corporation to help their clients, Britain and the France. It was against US law to transport war materials and passengers in the same ship....
It is now known that the British Admiralty, headed by Winston Churchill, knew the U-20 was in the vicinity and ordered the Lusitania to cut its speed and to begin zig-zagging! This much hindered its progress and made it a virtual sitting duck for enemy submarines.
During the interbellum years the wrecked Lusitania was repeatedly depth charged by the British Navy - supposedly for practice.... Many of these still lie, unexploded, on and around the wreck. Some claim this was a calculated effort on the part of the UK to destroy evidence - and to make certain the site remained unattractive to salvagers for years to come.
Reichstag fire:
A suspicious fire that greatly abetted der Fuhrer's interests....
On the night of Feb. 27, 1933 the German Reichstag went up in flames. The police conducted a search inside the building and found Marinus van der Lubbe, a Dutch communist and unemployed bricklayer. The fire was seized on by the Nazis as evidence that the Communists were beginning a plot against the German government. Adolf Hitler who was sworn in as Chancellor four weeks earlier urged President Paul von Hindenburg to enact an emergency decree to counter the "ruthless confrontation of the Communist Party of Germany". He did.
Civil liberties were suspended and the Nazi led government instituted mass arrests of Communists, including all of the Communist parliamentary delegates. With the Communists out of the way and their seats empty, the Nazis went from being a plurality party to the majority, allowing Hitler to consolidate his power. Hitler pushed through the so-called "Enabling Act", which officially recognized him as Germany’s dictator.
While the Reichstag fire is a topic of ongoing debate, it is known that Hermann Goering had an office with a door that opened to an underground tunnel that led across the street to the Reichstag. He's also reported to have boasted about causing the fire.
Pearl Harbor:
The international bankers once again call on America to save their assets from a menacing Germany. Their man, FDR, provokes Germany's ally to provide a back door into the war....
On the morning of Dec. 7, 1941, all of FDR's, and his associate's, scheming finally bore fruit when the Empire of Japan foolishly attacked the US Naval base at Pearl Harbor... the infamous "Sneak Attack". Of course the real sneak was FDR - who plotted Pearl Harbor more thoroughly than Admiral Yamamoto.
FDR had been doing everything in his power to provoke a war with Germany – but Americans weren’t anxious to get into another European war and Hitler wasn’t taking the bait. Even though the US was officially neutral, we were still massively violating the spirit and letter of the Neutrality Acts of the 1930's. Among these were the sending of war materiel to both the UK and the USSR. British merchant convoys were also being escorted by US warships. Despite these provocations, Hitler ordered his navy to avoid firing on American ships – because he knew that US involvement had been the deciding factor in Germany’s defeat in WWI. Another way had to be found to get the US into the European war. FDR schemed....
He knew that Japan and Germany were allies - the so-called "Axis" of Germany, Italy and Japan. The one-time Secretary of the Navy began undertaking a series of measures designed to provoke a military response from Japan: ordering them to halt their attacks in China, sending mercenary pilots, the"Flying Tigers", to fight for China, freezing Japanese assets in the US, embargoing oil and steel to Japan, moving the HQ of the American Pacific Fleet from San Francisco to Pearl Harbor (a pointedly aggressive act) and sending American warships on "pop-up" cruises into Japanese waters. Hoping no doubt the Japanese would sink one of these and, a la' the USS Maine and RMS Lusitania, Americans would clamor for war.
The Japanese finally responded to these provocations and sent 6 huge aircraft carriers and another 22 support ships, plus 23 submarines, steaming towards Hawaii. This immense armada was never sighted by anyone - not even once - even though it crossed two heavily traveled Pacific sea lanes and DID NOT maintain radio silence. Oh, did I forget to mention that the US had months earlier cracked Japan's diplomatic and naval codes?
At Pearl Harbor four battleships were sunk, 3 battleships damaged, 1 battleship grounded, 2 other ships sunk, 3 cruisers damaged, 3 destroyers damaged, 3 other ships damaged, 188 aircraft were destroyed and 159 were damaged. Two thousand four hundred fifty nine people were killed. Another 1282 were wounded. Miraculously! all the American aircraft carriers had departed on various errands only a few days prior to the attack....
FDR and his banker friends had their war; and FDR was re-elected President in 1944. But the scheming life takes its toll on a man and FDR died, somewhat unexpectedly, not very long afterwards.
The Lavon Affair (aka, "Operation Susannah"):
A classic false flag operation... gone wrong. Israeli Jews induce extra-Israeli Jews to attack targets in the extra-Israeli Jews' host country - in order to place blame on others, thereby inducing a response favorable to Israel....
In the Summer of 1954 a group of Egyptian Jews were recruited by Israeli military intelligence to plant bombs inside Egyptian, American and British-owned targets inside Egypt.
The operation became known as the Lavon Affair after the Israeli defense minister Pinhas Lavon, who was forced to resign because of the it. The attacks were to be blamed on the Muslim Brotherhood, Egyptian Communists, "unspecified malcontents" or "local nationalists", with the aim of creating a climate of sufficient violence and instability to induce the UK to keep its troops in Egypt's Suez Canal zone.
The operation caused no casualties, except for those members of the cell who committed suicide or were executed by Egypt. In March 2005, Israel publicly honored the surviving operatives and presented each with a certificate of appreciation for their efforts on behalf of the state, ending fifty years of official denial by Israel. Lavon was later exhonerated of any wrongdoing by the Israeli government.
The Gulf of Tonkin Incident:
More American "mischief on the high seas"....
On August, 2, 1964 the Destroyer USS Maddox was sent, along with several other ships, on an intelligence gathering mission into the Gulf of Tonkin; as well to test the resolve of North Vietnam to defend its 12 mile territorial waters claims. Two separate incidents were claimed by the US, on two separate days.
In fact there was only one incident - in which three NV torpedo boats opened fire on the Maddox. The administration of President L.B. Johnson came under fire itself when it claimed the torpedo boats had opened fire first - and it came out that in fact the Maddox fired first. Nonetheless, the road was laid for the escalation of American involvement in Vietnam.
The case is made more interesting because the task force commander was Captain George Morrison - the father of rock legend Jim Morrison. Morrison would also become involved in the Israeli attack on the USS Liberty three years later. Though not actually a false flag operation, the Gulf of Tonkin Incident has become a textbook study of US government duplicity and obfuscation.
