RIP... Noor al Haqiqa
Some here might remember a blogger going by "Noor al Haqiqa" (Light of Truth). She ran a well known blog called Snippets and Snappets. Noor (not her actual name) and I communicated back and forth on occasion and saw the world in pretty much the same light.
Citizenfitz came under attack thirteen years ago. It was greatly de-ranked at Google, blocked at Bing, new subscriptions were blocked, then my subscribers were all removed. Commenting was made hard if not impossible. Pretty much ghosted really. Finally I was locked out of my Blogger account for a couple of years. I'm pretty sure Noor's blog got attacked around the same time too. I lost touch with her and couldn't re-find her later as I'd forgotten the "al Haqiqa" part of her pseudonym.
I've been thinking about her lately. Wondering. But kept drawing a blank on the last name, "al-Haqiqa". That all changed last night. I was going through some of my early postings. Organizing and cleaning up things, etc. when I came across a comment she left at my first ever Citizenfitz article. Jackpot! Noor al Haqiqa... Snippets and Snappets.
I went to Snippets and Snappets to say hi and learn how she was doing. I found this message:
Thursday, 16 May 2024
"Hello all,
"It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of our beloved sister, Mother, and Grandmother, the individual that you all knew as Noor. This community meant a great deal to her, and she cherished the interactions with her readers over the years.
"She had a brief and spirited fight during her hospitalization but succumbed to illness on May 10th, 2024. We will leave her writings up for you all. We are asking for privacy in this difficult time for us as a family, and will be providing no further updates or communication.
"On behalf of Noor,
"Thank you"
Well, as someone once said, "Death is what happens when you're busy making other plans." But I'm happy I was able to at least re-find Snippets and Snappets. Noor invested a lot of time and effort into it and it shows. It's a very good site.
Gentle reader, please spare a prayer for the good woman's soul.
